The large butterfly came in 3 different versions as the design changed throughout the life of the piece. This version is the first one and has rhodium antenna with a small rhodium nose, black eyes and the tips on the top of the antenna are also black. This design of butterfly was introduced in 1982 but was later discontinued, and replaced with var 2 which has gold antenna with clear crystal. Because the pieces were assembled by hand, you can find variations in the positioning of the stones, and this can give the impression of long or short neck varieties of butterfly. The v1 butterfly was part of the “In a Summer Meadow” theme group.
